Our Process

Set Up Call

To kick off the requisition,  a ScaleU partner will meet with the hiring manager to learn more about the organization, the role(s) they are hiring for, what they look for in an ideal candidate, the interview process, and set up a quick sync to update the team on hiring progress.

Create Sourcing Strategy

The ScaleU team will first look at their existing candidate network to identify a potential fit for the role that has been pre-vetted and is ready to move.  If none exist, the team will look at referrals first and then talent maps to find the best candidate in the shortest amount of time.

Administer Candidate Screening

At this stage, the ScaleU team will set-up calls with the most qualified candidates.  During the calls, the team will cover logistical, skills-related, and open ended behavioral questions to assess candidate fit and quality.  Upon request ScaleU can also administer a coding challenge and a brief behavioral assessment to measure ideal traits.  We recommend technical and behavioral assessments for both direct placement and contractors, but they are option and ad-hoc on a per organization basis.

Label Top Candidates

To save time for the hiring manager, your dedicated ScaleU team will filter our submissions based on numerous factors including: skills and industry fit, communication ability, average tenure in role, and history of progression in past experience. ScaleU will also consider, if requested, coding screening results and behavioral traits.

Explain Candidate Profile to Client

ScaleU will explain candidates' background, goals, interests and performance during our screening to the hiring manager to determine the appropriate next steps.

Usher Candidate to Close

ScaleU will usher candidates through the client's internal interview process, by assisting with scheduling, preparation for every round of interview, offer extension and closing candidates.

Miguel "Mico" Cabunoc
Partner, Head of Recruiting

Mico has spent 9 years perfecting the craft of sourcing and recruiting top technical talent. After establishing the San Francisco office for Aston Carter (Aerotek subsidiary), Mico joined Meta, recruited hundreds of candidates over 5 years, and concluded his time there leading engineering sourcing teams.

Mico is responsible for leading ScaleU's sourcing and recruiting strategy. He is originally from the Bay Area and attended Syracuse University.

Rich Saylor
Partner, Go To Market / Operations

Rich spent nearly a decade in sales, partnerships, and business development roles across a variety of technology companies, including joining Klaviyo (NYSE: KVYO) as one of the initial sales hires prior to their Series B round.

Rich is responsible for leading ScaleU's recruiting for early stage sales teams and takes pride in his ability to identify and vet top sales reps for our clients.

Rich is originally from Southeast Georgia and attended Syracuse University with Mico.  

Justin Moore
Partner, Head of Assessments

After beginning his career staffing in the day labor space, Justin has spent 10 years recruiting for companies of all sizes from MAANG to a Series B startup.  Justin received a Masters in Organization Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2022 and has a passion to make work environments better for employees and to help companies avoid the pitfalls of growth

Justin is responsible for leading ScaleU's candidate assessments and also participates heavily in sourcing and recruiting. He is originally from Southern California and attended UC Davis prior to his UGA Masters Program.
